Description
A fellow citizen of the world and originally from South America, Fabian, saw the possibility to help a community really close to Antigua, in a town called Pastores, he realised that the Barrio, had potential and great views, and said “hey community if we all work together re painting the town, making it pretty we can definitely bring some revenue in tourism to the town, and get the ball running to help each other,” – Non profit, non governmental, non religious. Just a clean heart wanting to Help the local Barrio de la Cruz in Pastores, a very nearby but quite poor area.

Small gallons of paint started arriving with private stores and peoples initiative, artists, alternative art vendors and tattoo artists who heard of the project, now muralist from all over Guatemala, and well known artist have arrived and started painting the towns walls with amazing art. INGUAT  (Instituto Guatemalteco de Turismo) is the only agency from the Government that donated paint and has their logo on one of the town walls, as a way of stating that, tourists are now welcome.

This project is Fabians vision that goes in steps, and really up to the community to make it happen, as first they need to re paint the walls white, then muralist come in and do their magic. The project wants to leave 250 murals in all over the small town. After the repainting, the next process is to work on the trails and hikes around the Barrio La Cruz as they have fresh water springs and it could be a really cool tour for local travellers or Tourists from Antigua. This would create jobs for local guides from the area, so a well thought out process from Fabian, working together with the community and local authorities to enhance the overall life of this small Favela style Barrio just around the corner from the luxury of Antigua. Now locals from Antigua and nearby communities who heard of this project have started to donate paint and arrive by own initiative, to see the beauty of the murals and see the smiles of the local people.
