Description
Join us in the gem of Central Europe, Switzerland, where we’ll spend the weekend adventuring the Swiss Alps with contrasting landscapes from mountain passes and untouched waterfalls to Swiss farms and nature at its best. Interlaken is situated between two lakes and in the middle of the mountains – a location unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before. Thanks to its endless amount of natural beauty, outdoor adventures and adrenaline experiences, the itinerary allows for a healthy mix of planned activity and even more free time. Jump out of an airplane over the Swiss Alps, bungee jump over a lake or simply take a stroll around the town for breathtaking views and fresh Swiss air.

Who This Experience Is Good ForThis experience is for everyone who loves nature and adventure. There are foodie experiences, high adrenaline options, beautiful walks and hikes in nature, scenic lakes and sunset views. This trip is not the best option for someone on a tight budget. 

Difficulty Level 

All included activities are easy. Optional activities will require varying levels of intensity dependent on your interest and comfort level.  Itinerary 

Day 1 – Arrival Day
We will be picked up at the Basel Airport and transfer to Interlaken. Transfer will take 2-3 hours and expected arrival should be in the early afternoon. For anyone interested, there will be a casual walking tour around the town. Otherwise, the afternoon and evening are free to explore. Dinner reservations at a Swiss restaurant can be made on request. 

Day 2 – Lauterbrunnen Valley
After breakfast, we’ll visit the Lauterbrunnen Valley and take a Gondola up into the mountains. We will then begin a 2 hour hike downhill on a path to Gimmelwald. Along the way we will visit a local Swiss farmer to have a local Swiss product sampling and short visit to the farm on the mountain. We will continue our descent to Gimmelwald where we will stop at a brewery and have a short break for lunch. After lunch we will go to the Trummelbach Falls, a natural world heritage site. Afterwards, we’ll head back to Interlaken.  Day 3- Free Day For Activities Breakfast will be available at the hotel in the morning. The rest of the day will be left open. There are plenty of options that range from free hiking to jumping out of a plane, depending on your interest! All adventure activities can be purchased in person. Activities include: Hiking (Free), Lake Swimming (Free), Biking around town, Bungy Jump, Sky Diving, Paragliding, Canyon Swing and more! 
Breakfast will be available at the hotel in the morning. We’ll depart for the airport in the morning for return flights.

Know Before You Go

– All included activities are Easy, for optional activities please see descriptions.
– Please bring: Swimsuit (for water activities), Passport, Sunscreen, Sandals, Sportswear / Comfortable walking / sports shoes (Hiking boots not necessary)- This trip includes a lot of free time, intentionally, to allow for additional adventure activity bookings. Participants do not have to book additional activities and are more than welcome to enjoy the free hiking, free transport passes, free pools and lakes. 

– Additional spending on this trip may be more than other Side Trips due to higher cost of living in Switzerland as well as endless amounts of adventure activities.

What is the refund policy?

For questions concerning refunds, please email [email protected]. Please note most bookings made within 24 hours are fully refundable. Bookings made outside the 24 hour policy are not eligible for a refund. Please keep in mind, we will automatically refund bookings that are disrupted by extreme weather conditions, last minute cancellations from our suppliers or the minimum number is not met by the booking deadline.

What happens if my booking is changed/cancelled due to weather?

We’ll control the weather. Just kidding! Remote Year can’t control the weather or many other factors that go into planning events. In the event of a change due to weather, the City Manager will do their best to provide a make-up option. Due to last minute changes and busy monthly schedules, we cannot guarantee it works for everyone but we’ll do our best! If you are not able to attend the make-up date(s), we will fully refund your booking.

I have a discount or gift code, can I use it to complete my purchase?

Yes, once you add your item to your cart and check out, you will be able to input the code before completing the purchase. If you need help finding your code, please double check your inbox. You received an email from Marketplace with the code.

Can I book for a friend / family member?

Yes! We welcome your friends and family coming to visit you while you travel the world. Please refer to our Friends and Family policy: Friends & Family (visitors of active Remotes and active Citizens) may be granted access to private Remote Year events, Local Experiences, Side Trips, Community Events, Local Amenity and Services at an extra cost determined by the Marketplace or City Team. Remote Year reserves the right to deny access to Friends / Family who are over using Remote Year services. To avoid abuse of services, non-active Citizens, op-out Remotes, or Remotes who have left a Program can not use services as Friends & Family of Active Remotes or Active Citizens.

I haven’t received a booking confirmation email, can you help? If I cannot attend, can I transfer my ticket to someone else?

Yes, you may transfer your ticket to another Remote, Citizen or Family/Friend. Please notify the City Manager as soon as possible to confirm the change. Please note, in the case of special dietary requirements, we might not be able to accommodate special requests on last minute changes. Any bookings that require advanced ticketing linked to an individual’s ID might not be approved.

I’m not currently an active Remote Year participant, can I still book?

As a non-active Remote or Citizen, you forego access to any private Remote Year events including Core Experiences, Local Experiences, Community Events, Local Amenity and Services through the Marketplace. Exemptions will be made on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the City Manager.
