Altamira Sunset and Dinner – RY Marketplace
Skip to content
– Having a breath of fresh air in the outskirt mountains of Antigua – Eating at a local restaurant that is famous for being tucked away and reservation only
– A very relaxed event
Description
The first part of this trip makes the most of a relaxed sunset view point at Altamira, a sleepy town on the hills overlooking Antigua City and its volcanoes. We’ll take our private transfer, up the windy roads, to the lookout point (about 20 mins away), widely recognised on Instagram for large wooden hands jutting into the clouds. The area includes a unique sculpture trail and walk through local gardens. For those who want to relax a bit more, then there’s time to sit, have a drink in one of the bars (if we arrive in time) and soak in the view…
Then for the main event… Montagu. Back in Antigua, this is a restaurant and experimental kitchen, not open to the public. Owned by Andres, he’s making a name for himself in Antigua for his passion for fermentation and combining unusual ingredients. We’ll have the restaurant to ourselves, or sometimes smaller groups and you’ll be able to see your dinner being cooked in front of you. Not only that, there’s a cocktail bar stocked & ready for your requests, using Andres’ homemade ingredients and vinegar elixirs.
For dinner you’ll be served up first a selection of Andres’ pickles, preserves and fresh bread. And then traditional tacos, but with less traditional fillings such pulled pork & pineapple, bacon and shrimp and pickled egg-plant & avocado. We can assure you that you’ll not leave hungry. In fact, it’s more likely you’ll leave with leftovers for the next day AND arms full of preserves, homemade pasta and sauces.
