WEATHER DEPENDENT
Wondering if Mother Nature might rain on our parade? We unfortunately can’t control the weather. The weather in this region of the world can be unpredictable, we prioritize your safety and overall experience. In case of any weather disruptions affecting time spent in the ocean for sailing or playing, we reserve the right to adjust the itinerary as needed. Our primary focus is always on providing a memorable experience while ensuring the safety of our participants. Please be aware that we cannot control the weather or ocean conditions, and we recommend planning and preparing according to your level of comfort with water-based activities.
INTERNET AVAILABILITY AND WORKING
Call your loved ones and let them know that you will be going off grid. There is intermittent cell phone coverage throughout the islands, however we strongly request you to leave your phone on flight mode and use it only to take pictures. Take this opportunity to get off your phone, have a digital detox!
DIFFICULTY LEVEL
Moderate – Participants should have a basic level of physical fitness and be comfortable with water-based activities. Depending on weather and sea conditions the boat journey can be 1-2 hours to the next stop. We spend as much time exploring islands and the reef until the group is set to go. However, if sailing conditions are rough sailing from A to B can double the estimated time. The crew on board will always have safety as priority and the only time we need to consider is the arrival at the base camp before dusk 5-6PM. Fear not, there are so many bays and islands where we shelter or explore depending on wind and water conditions – We got this!
SPECIAL CLOTHING REQUIRED
Swimwear, Quick-drying clothes, Sun protection, Sun hat, Sun glasses, A refillable water bottle, Sandals or Reef Shoes, Flashlight or Head torch, Insect Repellent, Small towel, Toiletries, Light rain jacket. Please note that the specific clothing requirements may vary depending on individual preferences. Always check the weather forecast before your trip and pack accordingly.
SPECIAL DIETARY REQUIREMENTS
Expect a wide delicious variety of fresh seafood, vegetables, fruit and rice. Meat (chicken and pork) is rather rare but still available sometimes. Let the chef know in advance if you have any food allergies. Vegetarians and Vegans should not worry at all as fresh fruits and vegetables are prime here – no need to let the chef know in advance. Please respect the chefs from the community: do not expect a change in their recipes to accommodate any dietary requirements. The mantra here is eat what you want and leave the rest – There is always something good for everyone to eat!
DRINKABLE WATER
Try to bring your own refillable water bottle and drink lots of water. There are large containers of purified drinking water on-board for you to keep your bottle topped up.
EXTRA CASH
Needed for tipping or extra spending. Think about optional activities, souvenirs and personal expenses. A suggested starting point would be to budget an additional $15-$40 per day, depending on your spending habits and the specific activities you choose to partake in. However, you should adjust this amount based on your personal preferences and comfort level. It’s always better to have extra cash on hand and be prepared for unforeseen expenses. Please know that the local governments of El Nido and Coron have an Eco Tourism Development Fee, a small compulsory tax (~5 USD) for every visitor. Keep your receipt to show to the coast guard before departure.
ACCOMMODATION
During your time in The Philippines, you will be accommodated in comfortable open style Tuka huts. Please note that the accommodations are simple and not luxurious, as is typical in this part of the world. This trip is not a luxury retreat experience and our choice of accommodation is based on its raw beauty and exclusive destinations, but more importantly easy access to both marine life and an unplugging. The primary focus of this journey is on connection with nature, relaxation and crystal clear waters. If the quality of accommodation is a make-or-break factor for your trip, this particular experience might not be the best fit for you. We encourage participants to embrace the adventure and the unique opportunity to contribute to the beautiful people who make this community great.
ELECTRICAL PLUGS
For the Philippines there are three associated plug types, A, B and C. Plug type A has two flat parallel pins, plug type B has two flat parallel pins and a grounding pin and type C has two round pins. The Philippines operates on a 220V supply voltage and 60Hz.
