Meet us in Munich for the most unforgettable time of your life. The city has been transformed into a festival unlike anything you’ve ever dreamed of. Millions of people dressed in lederhosen and dirndls frolicking around the festival grounds, riding swings, playing games, laughing, eating and enjoying life as it fades by. Once you’re all checked in to your accommodation in Munich, your guide will help anyone who wants to dress in the traditional outfits by taking you to the best spot to purchase a lederhosen or dirndl. The trip will officially start with a celebratory welcome pretzel and your first beer stein. From here, the magic of Oktoberfest will take you away. The time in Munich will be spent enjoying the final festive weekend at the festival grounds and whizzing through the streets to the Englischer Garten on the Munich Bike Tour. On Monday morning, you’ll board a coach bus and start the journey to the Czech Republic. Soon after you’ll arrive to the fairy tale city of Prague! In Prague, you’ll explore the maze-like streets on an included walking tour followed by a local lunch. There will be plenty of time to explore on your own, catch up with work in a local cafe or simply unwind while taking in the beauty of the city. This time of year in Prague is such a beautiful one with Autumn in full effect, leaves changing colors and a wonderful way to end your trip. 

Who This Trip Is Good For 
This trip is for the adventurous traveler who enjoys being in the action and festivities. This traveler likes being around people, enjoys beer, food and carnival vibes. 

Difficulty Level 

Easy / Medium – This trip is not a difficult trip but it will likely involve walking around the festival grounds and long periods of standing. This trip also involves a 5 hour coach bus ride from Munich to Prague. 

Itinerary
Day 1 – Munich Arrival Day
You’ll arrive to Munich and make your way to the hotel in the city center of Munich. The hotel is located within in short walking distance to the festival grounds. Once you have arrived and checked in, your guide will organize a trip to a Lederhosen store for anyone who wants to purchase and wear traditional clothing while at the festival. Once everyone is ready, the group will make their way to the festival grounds and enjoy a welcome pretzel and beer stein, prosting to the start of the trip! 

Day 2 – Festival Day
Breakfast will be available at the accommodation in the morning. The group will be departing early to the festival to wait in line outside the famous Hofbrau tent. This is an experience of a lifetime to stand outside the tent and rush in to get a seat at a table. It is a massive adrenaline rush once the doors open and the first beer of the day is poured and music starts playing. The rest of the day will be free for everyone to enjoy at their own pace and leisure. Typically the morning at the Hofbrau tent and then moving on to other tents and experiencing the carnival rides will allow you to get the most of the day! 

Day 3 – Bike Tour & Festival 

Breakfast will be available at the accommodation in the morning. There will be an included city bike tour of Munich to the Englischer Garten for anyone who is up for it. This is the final day of the festival so some might want to spend most of the day there, while others might want to check out the famous Hofbräuhaus for lunch. There will be an optional add-on for anyone who wants to do a spa day with massage.

Spa & Massage – Price: $165pp – You have the opportunity to add-on a spa and massage experience for anyone who wants to unwind after the previous day at the festival. 

Day 4 – Welcome to Prague
You’ll take breakfast at the hotel before departing for Prague. The travel will be on a comfortable private coach bus. Travel will be about 5 hours with plenty of time to share stories with the group from your Oktoberfest experience! Once you arrive to Prague, you’ll check in to a hotel near Prague city center. In the evening the group will enjoy a local welcome dinner to this magical city. 

Day 5 – Walking Tour & Free Day

You’ll enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading out on a city tour. You’ll be guided around the center and learn all about the history of the city and what makes it such a unique and interesting place. After the walking tour, you’ll enjoy a local luncheon. After lunch, you’ll have free time to work at a local cafe or continue to explore on your own. There are plenty of sights to see from the Prague Castle, Paternoster Lift or the Žižkov Television Tower with baby statues crawling on it! 

Day 6 – Free Day & Farewell

You enjoy a last breakfast at the hotel. The day has been left open for anyone who wants to check some last minute items off their bucket list or check in with work. In the evening the group will meet up for a farewell rooftop drink. The guide will be available for recommendations and suggestions. 

Day 7 – Departure Day 

Breakfast will be available at the hotel in the morning. Transport can be arranged with the guide or you can make use of public transport depending on your flight departure times.  What’s Included

Things You Should Know 

– Weather can range anywhere from pleasant to cool Autumn temperatures. We recommend checking the weather before the trip. – Oktoberfest is a busy time to be in Munich, please expect many people and festival type atmosphere.  – Designated or reserved seats are not included at the beer tents. This requires advanced booking and is not part of this package. 

– Accommodation – Shared Room will be two people in a twin room. 

– Please do not book flights until this trip has been confirmed

Friday August 19, 2022. If the minimum number is not met by this date, we will fully refund the trip. 

What is the refund policy?

For questions concerning refunds, please email [email protected]. Please note most bookings made within 24 hours are fully refundable. Bookings made outside the 24 hour policy are not eligible for a refund. Please keep in mind, we will automatically refund bookings that are disrupted by extreme weather conditions, last minute cancellations from our suppliers or the minimum number is not met by the booking deadline.

What happens if my booking is changed/cancelled due to weather?

We’ll control the weather. Just kidding! Remote Year can’t control the weather or many other factors that go into planning events. In the event of a change due to weather, the City Manager will do their best to provide a make-up option. Due to last minute changes and busy monthly schedules, we cannot guarantee it works for everyone but we’ll do our best! If you are not able to attend the make-up date(s), we will fully refund your booking.

I have a discount or gift code, can I use it to complete my purchase?

Yes, once you add your item to your cart and check out, you will be able to input the code before completing the purchase. If you need help finding your code, please double check your inbox. You received an email from Marketplace with the code.

Can I book for a friend / family member?

Yes! We welcome your friends and family coming to visit you while you travel the world. Please refer to our Friends and Family policy: Friends & Family (visitors of active Remotes and active Citizens) may be granted access to private Remote Year events, Local Experiences, Side Trips, Community Events, Local Amenity and Services at an extra cost determined by the Marketplace or City Team. Remote Year reserves the right to deny access to Friends / Family who are over using Remote Year services. To avoid abuse of services, non-active Citizens, op-out Remotes, or Remotes who have left a Program can not use services as Friends & Family of Active Remotes or Active Citizens.

I haven’t received a booking confirmation email, can you help? If I cannot attend, can I transfer my ticket to someone else?

Yes, you may transfer your ticket to another Remote, Citizen or Family/Friend. Please notify the City Manager as soon as possible to confirm the change. Please note, in the case of special dietary requirements, we might not be able to accommodate special requests on last minute changes. Any bookings that require advanced ticketing linked to an individual’s ID might not be approved.

I’m not currently an active Remote Year participant, can I still book?

As a non-active Remote or Citizen, you forego access to any private Remote Year events including Core Experiences, Local Experiences, Community Events, Local Amenity and Services through the Marketplace. Exemptions will be made on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the City Manager.
